A Commercial-to-Residential Conversion in Calgary: Neoma Case Study

On July 18, 2024, ENBIX hosted this webinar in which Heather Elliot, Senior Associate at Entuitive, walks us through a case study featuring a 1950s-era vacant commercial building converted into 80+ affordable housing units in Calgary, Alberta: Neoma. Heather compares the project with another leading-edge Canadian retrofit project: Ken Soble, a 1970s-era tower, including post-war apartments in Hamilton Ontario, that was the largest multi-unit residential building EnerPHit (the Passive House certification for retrofits) project in the world. Finally, Heather discusses the strategies that allow for a full retrofit approach for these projects and how the opportunities can be leveraged well across Alberta.
